A busy week in P5B

P5B have been really busy this week! This week was Internet Safety Week and to begin the week, on Monday morning we learned how to code our own Chat Bot on Scratch. The theme of Internet Safety week was, “Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.” We now know how easy it is to code a bot to answer and respond to questions, and how it could be easy to be scammed! Remember: S- sounds to good to be true, C- contact you didn’t expect, A- asking for personal information and M- money or a trade being asked for.
This week we also used Izak 9 to take part in some problem solving tasks in Numeracy. We challenged ourselves by completing the Eliminator Tasks, and then created our own P5B book of Eliminator questions. This is going to the office to get bound by Mrs. Mallon.
We are continuing learning about Ancient Egypt and this week thought about the ordinary Ancient Egyptians. We discussed what jobs they may have had and then looked at some artefacts and made predictions about what they could be.
Finally on Friday we finished the week by creating some “Expanding Hearts” for Valentines Day next week. This art style is known as Notan and comes from Japan. You only need scissors, glue and card! We also took pictures of our completed St. Brigid’s crosses.
