A Good Haul

The Eco Team carried out their harvest of the school garden and were very happy with the success of their crops. They were delighted to see that the vegetables they grew from seed did well despite the cold, wet Spring followed by the hot, dry Summer. Being a plant must be very stressful sometimes! They decided the leave their sweetcorn to grow for a few more weeks in the hopes that it might mature before the Autumn really bites down. The most interesting thing they learned from the garden this year was that homegrown carrots can have lots of legs! To wish Mr.Matthews good luck on his new adventure, the Eco Team decided to give him a gift basket full of their Autumn garden goodies – potatoes, onions, carrots, leeks and rhubarb.
