Ten boys proudly represented our school yesterday at a highly competitive 7-a-side tournament hosted by Creggan GAA, and they did us immensely proud. The squad consisted of Darragh, Finn, Ryan, Conor, Hughie, Freddie, Luke, Rory, David and Elvin, who showed great skill, teamwork and determination throughout the day. Drawn into a very tough group, the boys battled hard, narrowly losing out to two strong schools, Mary Queen of Peace and Millquarter. Despite this challenge, their perseverance saw them qualify for the Shield competition, where they truly hit top form. From there, the boys played outstanding football, securing brilliant victories over St. Colmcille’s in the Quarter Final and the host school Creggan in the Semi Final. This fantastic run earned them a place in the final, where they faced a very strong Mount St. Michael’s team. In a closely fought and exciting match, our boys were narrowly defeated by just two points at the final whistle. Overall, it was an exceptional performance, with the team finishing 2nd place out of 14 schools and returning home with well-deserved silver medals. A fantastic achievement for all involved — well done, boys!
