Today we officially opened our new school year with a very special Mass concelebrated by Canon Emerson and Fr Jane. We asked God for his blessing on this new year. We prayed for blessings on our work and on our play, and that everyone would be happy in school this year. Our Mass was enhanced by the wonderful readings of our P6 and 7 pupils, and participation in the Offertory Procession by pupils from Year 5, and by the beautiful, uplifting singing of all our pupils and staff from P2-7. Fr Jane quizzed us on our knowledge of Saints, and Meabh, Shawn and Eric were the successful prizewinners. We thought about how to live a more saintly life like St. Teresa and newly canonized St. Carlo Acutis. Thank you to Canon Emerson, and Fr Jane, and to Brendan, our Sacristan, for helping to begin our year in prayer. This year ‘We have great hope. Hope for good work, for successful results, for friendship, for fun, for learning.’
