As part of our World Around Us topic “Jungle Journey,” Primary 3 went on an exciting adventure to Belfast Zoo! The children were thrilled to see many of the animals they’ve been learning about, including creatures from both the rainforest and the jungle. During the visit, the class had lots of thoughtful discussions about the animals’ enclosures and imagined what life would be like for them in their natural habitats. It was a great opportunity to compare the zoo environment with the wild jungles and rainforests these animals call home. The children’s favourite animals were the capybara and the lion—two very different creatures, but both equally fascinating! To finish off a fantastic day, the children were delighted to return to school and discover an ice cream van waiting for them! Every child enjoyed a well-earned treat after all the walking, and there were lots of happy (and tired!) faces by the end of the day. It was a day full of learning, laughter, and a deeper appreciation for the amazing animals that share our planet.
