P6/7 Boys Win Big in the All Schools Tournament

On Thursday 18th June, our Primary 6 and 7 boys had a tremendous day of football, proudly bringing home the Shield after a year of hard work and determination. Having finished runners-up in the previous two tournaments, this victory was especially meaningful for the team. Great credit must go to the following pupils: Ryan McConnell, Finn Storrie, Darragh McKendry, Hughie Mullin, Conor Hood, Zach McNally, Logan Blaine, Rory McQuillan, David Polaghiu, Luke McCartan, Oisin O’Loan, Keegan McLarnon and Cillian Crilly. The boys began the day with an excellent performance against Rasharkin, narrowly missing out by just one point. Finn, Darragh and Zach worked brilliantly in the forward line, while Freddy, Conor, Hughie, Logan and Rory showed great determination across midfield and defence. David was the standout player in this match, making a series of fantastic saves and keeping the team in contention throughout. Although the games against St Mary’s, Portglenone and Oliver Plunkett, Toome did not go as planned, the results were enough to secure a place in the Shield Final against St Brigid’s, Ballymena. In the final, the boys produced their best performance of the day. They showed excellent teamwork, great skill, and determination, scoring some outstanding goals and working together brilliantly across the pitch. When the final whistle blew, there was a real sense of achievement. After coming second in both the indoor tournament and the Creggan tournament earlier in the year, the boys had finally reached their goal of winning a trophy! Well done to all involved — a fantastic achievement we are very proud of!
