This has been a very special week for Primary 6B. They have been selected to take part in a ‘Reading for Pleasure’ project run by the British Council. This project supports UK schools to build partnerships with Ukrainian schools through a common love for reading. Earlier this month, Miss O’Sullivan travelled to Kraków, Poland, along with teachers from 19 other UK schools, to meet their Ukrainian partners. During the visit, Miss O’Sullivan exchanged letters written by P6B pupils, in which the children introduced themselves, shared their hobbies and described some of their family traditions. This week, there was great excitement as the children met face to face for the first time via google meet and had the opportunity to share work from the Oliver Jeffers book they have recently read – Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. In the coming weeks, the children are looking forward to sharing activities from books they have read, learning about each other’s cultures and connecting through stories.
