Primary 5’s School Trip to W5

On Friday 30th May, our Primary 5 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable day at the W5 Science and Discovery Centre, packed with hands-on learning and fun experiences! Children had the opportunity to explore different zones including the ‘Making Sense’ zone, where they experienced fascinating optical illusions and multi-sensory exhibits—including the vortex light tunnel. They also discovered more about Northern Ireland’s natural world in the ‘In Our Nature’ zone, learning about local landscapes and wildlife. One of the highlights was climbing the impressive ‘Climbit’ structure, a towering web of exploration and fun. Children also got to take part in interactive workshops. In ‘Fizz, Pop, Bang’, pupils stepped into a real science lab to carry out exciting experiments. They investigated whether changes observed during chemical reactions and physical changes in state are temporary or permanent through activities like creating shapes with Plaster of Paris, making bubble volcanoes, shrinking and freezing balloons and even witnessing a fiery “dragon breath” demonstration! Meanwhile, in the ‘Fit to Go’ workshop, children engaged in fun puzzles and activities that taught them fascinating facts about the human body and how it works. It was a day full of discovery, laughter, and learning—one that our Primary 5s will be sure to remember.
