RNLI come to visit P4

Today the RNLI beach lifeguards came to visit our P4 classes. Jack and James talked to us about how to stay safe near the sea. We learned about the red and yellow flags, which show where it’s safe to swim and the red flag, which means no swimming at all. They also showed us the sock flag, it tells the lifeguards how strong the wind is and which way it’s blowing, which helps them know if it’s safe to use inflatables. The lifeguards showed us what they wear and Aidan and Paulina got to try their uniform and equipment on. Their biggest message was to tell us what to do if we ever get into trouble at the beach- we should FLOAT on our backs and wave for help. It was really interesting, and we all asked lots of questions. Now we know how to stay safe and enjoy the beach!
