This week Primary 3 are learning about places of worship. We started with somewhere very special, our own Church, which is just across the road from our school. Brendan our Church sacristan, (and a very loved Granda for someone in P3A!) organised a VIP tour.
Everyone sat together in the pews while Brendan introduced the special areas of the Church such as the Sanctuary. We learned that the Sanctuary holds important Church items like the Altar, the Tabernacle, the Ambo and the Crucifix. All of Primary 3 got to see the precious Relic that belonged to Saint Comgall a long long time ago.
We followed the Stations of the Cross which teaches us the Easter Story, admired the beautiful stained-glass windows and listened to our wonderful bells that call everyone to Mass. We got to see special statues of Jesus and Mary and say a special prayer for our loved ones. Brendan gave everyone a votive candle, which we can bring back and light with an adult after school or during the weekend.
Primary 3 really enjoyed learning the inner workings of the Confessional Box as we are looking forward to preparing for First Penance in the new year!
Thank you again to Brendan for such an informative tour and being so kind and generous with his time. We all loved learning about our Church and are looking forward to visiting it again.
